Hillcrest offers a variety of adult fellowship ministries and programs for those seeking to further explore their Christian faith or enjoy the companionship of others.
All of these groups welcome new members. For more information on how to join contact us!
Adult Education/Bible Study
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20
Deepen your knowledge of our Christian biblical faith in Adult Education/Bible study; pray for those who are in need of prayer in the Fellowship of Prayer group; or, gather together to address Social Justice needs in our community. We welcome you to join us!
Hillcrest is all about Faith in Action. And that’s true for our Adult Education programming as well. We are not interested in learning for learning’s sake. We hold dear our Christian biblical and spiritual traditions and engage them directly. Because of (and not in spite of) those very traditions, we also celebrate and learn from other religions and from science.
Recent topics and series include explorations of systemic racism in light of biblical and spiritual truths, explorations of the Trinity and what it means for our lives with others and the whole of creation, how science and (Christian, and other) religion work together to teach us about God’s creation.
There are three things (at least) to know about Adult Education at Hillcrest:
- It’s fun
- If you’re not careful you’ll learn a lot
- The richness of the discussion rivals, if not surpasses, the great resources (DVDs, books, etc.) that we use
Fellowship of Prayer
The power of prayer is awesome. It is an act of love and faith that brings God closer to us: we ask—we thank—we listen.
Are you or someone you know in need of prayer? Do you have an interest in joining a prayer group? If you would like a member of the Prayer Group to contact you, please call the church office at 925-689-8260. All information is kept strictly confidential.
Book Group
Fun and fellowship through our mutual love of reading is found in the Hillcrest Book Group. We meet monthly to discuss books that cover a wide variety of genres. From fiction and biographies to mysteries, classics and non-fiction, if you like reading and would enjoy discussing books with other book lovers, we invite you to join us. It’s a great way to learn about new authors, expand your range of reading, and get to know others in the church.
Upper Room Service Group
Calling all handy men and women! If you have basic “handy” skills and enjoy working in fellowship with others, we need you! Painting benches, refinishing the sanctuary doors, repairing the courtyard fountain, and replacing light fixtures are just a few of the projects the Upper Room crew have completed on the campus. If you’re interested in putting your skills to good use, we’d love to hear from you.
