Thanks for Supporting Winter Nights 2021

Many thanks to everyone who donated money towards the purchase of meals for the eleven people (five adults, two 18-year olds, and four children) being housed through the Winter Nights shelter located at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Walnut Creek.

One of the pleasures of volunteering for Winter Nights was preparing and serving food, and interacting with the families. Due to Covid-19, our participation was unlike any other year and was limited to purchasing and delivering the meals.

In order to raise money to purchase the meals, we hosted our first Facebook Fundraiser. Thanks to a very generous $1000 donation from a non-member, along with donations from Hillcrest members and friends, we raised a total of $1,850.   In addition to monetary donations, Tony from Zio Fraedo’s Restaurant on Gregory Lane, donated chicken dinners for one of the meals.  Our gratitude to Zio Fraedo’s for their support of the program.

Hopefully the next year we will see a return to “normal” and we can go back to preparing and serving the meals to the guests.
