Congratulations to Hillcrest Church’s Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Fred Weidmann

Congratulations to Hillcrest Church’s Senior Minister, Rev. Dr. Fred Weidmann, who was awarded the 2021 “Community Change Agent Award” by The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Contra Costa County at its 2nd Annual Award and Appreciation Event on May 20, 2021.

The award recognizes community members and organizations who have made an extraordinary difference and improved the quality of lives by supporting people and/or their families with mental health challenges.  In accepting the award Rev. Fred thanked both NAMI and Hillcrest Church, saying that their relationship preceded him and that he was, “just happy to have joined a dance that was already in progress.” He also praised NAMI as an organization that is willing “to do something about” the many ways that our society works against mental, physical, and spiritual health, and urged all to “keep doing what you are doing to bring fresh air and precious breath to those individuals, families and communities who are suffering and who are working to live and to thrive.”

Rev. Fred has been involved with NAMI in several ways, including the support that it has provided to the family and friends of Miles Hall and to their work promoting strategies for safe, proper care and response. Hillcrest Church in Pleasant Hill has long supported NAMI by providing space for “Family to Family” classes on mental health.
